Holiday Cards in the Making

Before I promptly forgot how to silk screen, I decided it would be a good idea to make some prints. I am in the process of making some non-denominational greeting cards for this season. They are very silly. These are the ink drawings from which I will print to acetate and then transfer to a screen.

t-shirt design for a farm

I was asked by a family member to create a t-shirt design for a friend's farm out in Washington. Unfortunately they did not like it. I hope you enjoy it though. In regards to the design, the arm on the back of the shirt would wrap around the front to create a solid band of color.

Almost to 50 Demons

After completing the 100 Demon project I am considering the idea of a large screen print. It would just be a montage of all the ink drawings in one complete image.

And that was the end of my summer...

I have not posted in a while and it is a result of two things; the deck and moving to Portland. The deck is white cedar from Port Orford Washington and was supplied by New England Building Materials. Thanks to Chris for helping make this project happen.

The Library Mural is Complete!

Awhile ago I posted some sketches of a mural I was painting. Two weeks ago I finished and installed the mural at my local library. The mural is up in the Children's Wing in time for the summer reading program. I'm working with one of the Children's librarians to get an article in the local paper. Yeah, any press I can get!

Each sea creature is reading a book that correlates to its traits or habitat. For instance, the octopus is reading the Encyclopedia Aquatica because they are very smart . The angler fish is reading 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea because they live so darn far in the sea.

The Island and The Bark

I recently attended a 2 day intensive woodturning course at the Damariscotta Woodturning School. We turned green and we got wet. I came away with a natural edge bowl, The Bark, and a platter, The Island (in honor of Lost). These pieces are not yet finished and will be worked on off of the lathe. They will go from semi-functional to completely useless but much more interesting.

Love for Your Local Library

Here are some sketches for a temporary mural I am working on at my public library. The work will be done for the Children's Wing which runs a summer program. This summer's theme is "Catch the Reading Wave".

100 Demons

This series of ink drawings are inspired by Lynda Barry's book "One Hundred Demons" which was inspired by a hand-scroll painted by Zen Monk, Hakuin Ekaku from 16th century Japan.
